Dance Works Academy has been operating out of the United Church Hall in lower Gibson’s since 1993. With over 6 talented teachers (please refer to teachers bios) and many wonderful guest teacher’s who over the years have blessed DW with their talent, enthusiasm and love for the art form. Over the last decade, Dance Works has offered a well-rounded and exciting Dance and Performing Arts program to hundered’s of local students. Welcoming students both male and female of all ages and degrees of experience. Dance Works hopes to bring the joy of the Performing Arts to all.Penny Hudson the creator and owner of Dance Works, has been teaching students forover 40 years in Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto, London, England and the Sunshine Coast. Out of the hundreds of students Penny has taught over the years, many have been accepted to some of the most prestigious schools and companies in Canada, The U.S. and Europe. Schools such as the National Ballet School of Canada, the Winnipeg Ballet School, Banff School of Fine Arts, Juliard of New York, and Bush Davies of London, England. Many students have also gone on to professional dance careers in performance, teaching, and examination.


Penny is an associate of the R.A.D., I.S.T.D. and a member of the C.D.T.A.
Penny spent her early years training and performing in Vancouver, Montreal and London, England. She then went on to take her advanced exams in England, obtaining her R.A.D., I.S.T.D. and I.D.T.A. for Ballet, Ballroom, Nationaland Modern. She continued on with a four year teacher's training program and an associate teachers training program at the Stella Mann College in London, England. During this time, Penny was awarded scholarships by Koerner and BC Cultural Grants. Acting and singing have been a huge part of Penny’s life, and she includes these subjects in her dancer's training.
